Målilla excluded from 2027 Speedway Grand Prix calendar

Sweden will be absent from the 2027 Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) calendar following a breakdown in financial negotiations between local organizers in Målilla and the new promoter.

Peter Samuelsson, head of the Swedish GP round, stated that organizers refused to accept rising licensing fees for the 2028-2029 period. Although a proposal was made to host a round in 2027 at the same rate as the current year, local officials at the Dackarna club determined the costs were too high and sought to return to the lower rates established during the initial years of the partnership with Discovery.

Despite the exclusion from the SGP series, Swedish officials emphasized that relations with international speedway authorities remain positive. The only major international speedway events remaining in Sweden for the upcoming period are the Speedway of Nations and Speedway of Nations 2, scheduled for August 27-28 in Västervik.
