Speedway Grand Prix 2027 calendar changes
Overview
The 2027 Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) calendar is undergoing significant changes characterized by international expansion and the loss of traditional European venues. The series will depart from Landshut, Germany, due to unmet promoter expectations and will see Sweden absent from the schedule for the first time since 1995.
The exclusion of Sweden follows a breakdown in financial negotiations between organizers in Målilla and the promoter. Peter Samuelsson, head of the Swedish GP round, noted that organizers refused to accept rising licensing fees for the 2028-2029 period. While a proposal was made to maintain current rates for 2027, local officials at the Dackarna club determined the costs remained too high.
To compensate for these losses, the SGP is shifting toward a more globalized model. The 2027 season will include a new round in Ipswich, United Kingdom, and will open in Donji Kraljevec, Croatia. The series is also returning to Australia with two final rounds in Adelaide, and promoters are reportedly exploring a potential entry into North America via the United States.
