Mönchengladbach balcony fire damages two apartments, no injuries

A balcony fire of unknown origin broke out on the night of Saturday, 12 July 2026, in a multi‑family house on Lüpertzender Straße in Mönchengladbach, Germany. The blaze quickly spread to two apartments on different floors and prompted an immediate evacuation of the building.

Firefighters deployed breathing‑apparatus teams, high‑performance fans, and a C‑hose to extinguish the flames and keep the stairwell smoke‑free. After the fire was contained, crews inspected the roof with a ladder and thermal imaging camera for hot spots. All residents were able to return to their homes, except the occupant of the directly affected flat, who remains displaced due to damage.
