Javier Milei visits Spain to discuss Malvinas sovereignty and economic ties
Argentine President Javier Milei has arrived in Madrid for a private visit, marking his seventh trip to Spain since assuming office. During his appearance at the Nueva Economía Forum, Milei addressed the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands, asserting they are Argentine by right, history, and geography. While he dismissed the possibility of military action to recover the territory, he emphasized that the claim remains a diplomatic priority and warned that British control of the South Atlantic represents a geopolitical risk for the region.
Milei’s agenda in Spain includes meetings with economic figures and political leaders, such as Isabel Díaz Ayuso. His visit also serves to strengthen ties with European right-wing movements. Additionally, the Argentine leader expressed gratitude to Spain for hosting citizens fleeing previous economic crises in Argentina, while simultaneously criticizing the current Spanish administration.
