Mobile health units reduce medical exam queues in Brazil

The ‘Agora Tem Especialistas’ mobile health program has significantly reduced medical waiting lists in Brazil through specialized mobile units. In Rio Grande do Norte, the program has performed over 48,000 procedures, serving approximately 19,500 people across 11 municipalities. This initiative successfully cleared four specific exam queues: mammography, transvaginal ultrasound, and pelvic ultrasound in Parnamirim, and tomography in Caicó.

In the state of Rio de Janeiro, the mobile units have completed more than 80,000 procedures, benefiting 31,900 people across 39 municipalities. These services include consultations, exams, and specialized procedures. Nationally, the program's 120 mobile units have surpassed 1 million total procedures, impacting 410,000 people in 4,290 municipalities. The Ministry of Health aims to expand the fleet to 150 units by the end of the year to further decrease wait times for diagnoses and treatments.
