Mobile pharmacy launches in Niš district villages

A mobile pharmacy service has launched in the Niš district of Serbia to provide pharmaceutical care to rural villages that lack permanent pharmacy locations. Operated by the Niš Pharmacy Institution, the service allows residents to pick up prescription medications and purchase necessary drugs without traveling to the city.

The initiative began in Vrtište and is scheduled to visit several other villages, including Mezgraj, Velepolje, Kravlje, Gornji Komren, Hum, Gornja Trnava, and Donja Trnava. The routes will be updated weekly, though schedules may change based on technical requirements such as internet signal strength needed for electronic prescriptions.

Niš Mayor Dragoslav Pavlović noted that the service is vital for small, dispersed settlements where maintaining a permanent pharmacy is not viable. He indicated that if the project is successful, additional vehicles may be acquired. The service is intended to expand across southeastern Serbia, potentially covering the Pčinja, Jablanica, and Toplica districts.
