Mobile recycling services launch in Heusden and Brussels

Municipalities in the Netherlands and Belgium are expanding mobile waste collection services to improve local recycling accessibility.

In Heusden, Netherlands, Alderman Jeroen van den Bosch is launching a pilot program for a ‘Mobile Milieustraat’ (Mobile Recycling Station). The initiative will operate at three locations—Vlijmen, Drunen, and Oudheusden—throughout September. Residents can drop off small items that fit in a shopping bag, including electrical appliances, hard plastics, paper, glass, textiles, metal, and small chemical waste.

In Brussels, Belgium, Bruxelles-Propreté has resumed its ‘Recypark Mobiles’ service. Running from August 31 to October 30, the mobile units will visit 13 communes for 73 scheduled collection days. The service allows residents to dispose of bulky items and electronic waste for free. This year, the program also includes dedicated reuse spaces in seven communes to collect items like furniture, toys, and books for a second life, in partnership with organizations such as Les Petits Riens.
