Mobile women's health units expand services in Santa Catarina
Mobile women's health units are expanding specialized medical services across regions in Santa Catarina, Brazil, to facilitate early diagnosis and cancer prevention.
In Nova Santa Rosa, a mobile unit will provide services including bilateral mammographies for women aged 40 to 74, diagnostic mammographies, Pap smears for women aged 25 to 64, and various ultrasounds. The initiative serves local residents on the SUS waiting list as well as patients from other municipalities within the 20th Health Region.
In the Vale do Itapocu region, a similar initiative led by the State Health Secretariat will be stationed in Guaramirim for approximately 45 days. This unit will serve seven municipalities, including Jaraguá do Sul and Schroeder, with the goal of performing 1,440 mammographies and 1,080 breast ultrasounds. The state aims to conduct approximately 40,000 exams through these mobile units to reduce waiting lists within the state health regulation system.
