Moch Subchi Azal Tsani released on conditional parole

Moch Subchi Azal Tsani, known as Bechi, a convicted sexual violence offender, has been released on conditional parole from the Malang Class I Prison. His release follows the receipt of approximately 19 months of sentence reductions (remissions), totaling 16 months and 105 days.

According to Christo Victor Nixon Toar, Head of Malang Class I Prison, the remission process adhered to existing regulations and was not based on special treatment. The decision for conditional release was formalized through a decree from the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs, with Bechi officially exiting the facility on August 20, 2025.

The release has drawn criticism from Komnas Perempuan. Ratna Batara Munti, Vice Chair of Komnas Perempuan, stated that the lack of transparency regarding the change in status risks re-traumatizing victims and undermining public trust in the handling of sexual violence cases. Critics have noted that while parole is a legal right, the timing of the release appears to conflict with the spirit of the Sexual Violence Crimes Law (UU TPKS), particularly regarding the calculation of the required two-thirds of the sentence served.
