Modena hosts Palestinian children from Taybeh, raises €20,000

The intercultural project “Modena con Taybeh” concluded after a month‑long stay (June 10 – July 5) of 20 Palestinian children and their adult escorts from the West Bank town of Taybeh in Modena, Italy. Organized by Auser Volontariato Modena with the patronage of the Municipality of Modena, the support of the Modena Foundation and a network of 25 local associations, the initiative offered a programme of educational, cultural and recreational activities, including theatre, music and writing workshops, scientific experiments, team games, scout camps, museum visits and seaside outings.

A fundraising campaign collected more than €20,000 from hundreds of local donors. The funds will support a public youth centre in Taybeh and future joint solidarity projects. “Modena con Taybeh ha dimostrato come una comunità possa trasformare la solidarietà in esperienze concrete di accoglienza e di incontro,” said Federica Venturelli, assessor for educational policies.
