Modica Alta medical outpost stays open after mayor and regional health officials intervene

Mayor Maria Monisteri Caschetto, deputy Nino Minardo, regional health assessor Marcello Caruso and ASP director Pino Drago held an operational meeting to address the possible closure of the Modica Alta health outpost. The discussion resulted in a decision to keep the facility open 24 hours a day, with support from the emergency‑medical 118 service, ensuring continuous care for residents of the upper part of Modica.

The previously planned relocation of the medical guard to the Casa di Comunità alla Sorda, a measure introduced by former mayor Ignazio Abbate, was reversed. Local officials credited the intensive negotiations for averting the shutdown and preserving an essential health service for the community.
