Moeve and ISFA launch renewable diesel pilot in Spain
Moeve and ISFA (Iberian Smart Financial Agro) have launched a pilot project to implement 100% renewable diesel (HVO) in the agricultural sector to reduce carbon emissions. The initiative aims to provide a sustainable alternative for heavy machinery that is difficult to electrify.
The six-month pilot program is being conducted on a 600-hectare almond plantation in Logrosán, Cáceres. Moeve will supply 15,000 liters of renewable diesel, produced from organic waste, to power a fleet of 12 agricultural vehicles, including eight tractors and four harvesters.
This renewable fuel is compatible with existing engines and can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% throughout its life cycle compared to traditional diesel. The project expects to prevent the emission of 43 tons of CO2, addressing the fact that 28% of ISFA's carbon emissions stem from its agricultural machinery.
