Moeve and ISFA renewable diesel pilot in Spain

Overview

Moeve and ISFA (Iberian Smart Financial Agro) have initiated a six-month pilot project in Logrosán, Cáceres, to implement 100% renewable diesel (HVO) within the agricultural sector. The program focuses on a 600-hectare almond plantation, utilizing 15,000 liters of biofuel produced from organic waste and renewable raw materials, such as used cooking oils.

The project aims to power a fleet of 12 agricultural vehicles, including eight tractors and four harvesters, providing a sustainable alternative for heavy machinery that is difficult to electrify. Because HVO is compatible with existing engines, the initiative allows for decarbonization without replacing current machinery. The project expects to prevent the emission of approximately 43 tons of CO2, addressing the fact that agricultural machinery accounts for 28% of ISFA’s total carbon emissions.
