Moeve and ISFA pilot renewable diesel in Cáceres almond farms
Moeve and ISFA have launched a pioneering six-month pilot project in Logrosán, Cáceres, to decarbonize large-scale almond farming. The initiative utilizes 100% renewable diesel (HVO) to power a fleet of agricultural machinery across 600 hectares of almond plantations.
By replacing traditional fossil diesel with second-generation biofuel produced from renewable raw materials and organic waste, such as used cooking oils, the project aims to avoid approximately 43 tons of CO2 emissions. This transition is particularly significant as heavy machinery accounts for 28% of the total carbon emissions at the ISFA farm. The use of HVO allows for the reduction of emissions without requiring the replacement of existing tractor and harvester fleets.
