Mohamed Ramadan begins filming ‘Ashmawi’ for Ramadan 2027

Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan has begun filming his new series, ‘Ashmawi’, which is scheduled for release during the Ramadan 2027 drama season. The production involves filming in various locations across Cairo and Giza.

Ramadan shared a glimpse of his character, Khalifa, on Instagram, appearing with a shaved head and a thick mustache. The character is an executioner for the prison authority living in the Al-Nasiriya neighborhood. The plot follows Khalifa as his stable life is upended by a complex crisis involving his daughter, forcing him into a difficult struggle to protect his family.

The series is written by Mohamed Ismail Amin and directed by Peter Mimi. The cast includes Bassem Samra, Essam El Sakka, Jessica Hossam El Din, Entissar, and Wissam Fawaz, with director Mohamed Sami appearing as a guest star. This marks Ramadan's return to the Ramadan drama season after a three-year hiatus since his 2023 series, ‘Gaafar El Omda’.
