Mohammad Rizwan faces NCCIA probe amid betting allegations

Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Rizwan is facing an investigation by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) regarding allegations of online betting and gambling. The probe follows the seizure of Rizwan’s mobile phone during a Test match against England at Lord’s.

While the Lahore High Court recently dismissed Rizwan’s petition against the NCCIA inquiry, ruling that the investigation is not malicious and is intended to combat corruption in sports, the court directed authorities not to harass the player. Rizwan’s legal team has raised concerns regarding the seizure of his device without formal notice.

Simultaneously, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly denied Rizwan’s multiple requests to speak publicly about the investigation. Under the terms of his central contract, Rizwan is prohibited from making public statements without board approval. The PCB has also restricted his participation in certain domestic cricket activities while the inquiry remains active.
