Mohammed Abbou joins Authenticity and Modernity Party

Former Minister Mohammed Abbou has officially joined the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) in Morocco. The move, which was formalized during a meeting in Fez attended by PAM political bureau member Fouzi Lekjaa, comes ahead of the legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026.

Abbou, a prominent political figure in the Taounate province, previously held several high-ranking positions, including serving as a Minister Delegate for Public Sector Modernization and Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade. He has a long parliamentary history, having served as a Member of Parliament since 1997 and as the head of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) parliamentary group between 2002 and 2007.

His defection follows the recent joining of other parliamentarians, Noureddine Kchibel and Bouchta Boussouf, to the Authenticity and Modernity Party. These shifts indicate intensified political maneuvering within the Taounate region as parties reorganize their ranks and strengthen their lists in preparation for the upcoming elections.
