Mohan Bhagwat defines Hindu identity through respect for diversity
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed a gathering of over 2,000 Hindus and community supporters in the Greater Toronto Area, stating that Hindu identity is not defined by any specific language, method of worship, or lifestyle. He argued that the core principle of the identity is the respect for diversity and the recognition of a unity of existence.
Speaking at the ‘Hindu Vishwa Bandhu’ event, which focused on the theme of embracing the world with friendship, Bhagwat noted that while external differences are natural, they do not divide humanity in its essential spirit. He emphasized that Indian civilizational traditions teach people to recognize a shared principle beneath visible differences, viewing diversity as an expression of unity rather than a problem for it.
Bhagwat concluded that differences should be accepted, respected, and celebrated, as they serve to beautify the underlying unity.
