Mohan Bhagwat to address Hindu American gathering in New York

Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), is scheduled to address a large gathering of Hindu Americans in New York City on August 29. The event, titled ‘Universal Oneness Celebrations’, is being organized by the American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue (AHEAD Forum) in partnership with hundreds of other organizations.

Coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan, the gathering aims to focus on themes of unity, civic responsibility, social harmony, and interfaith understanding. The program will utilize the ancient Indian philosophical principle of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ — meaning ‘The World Is One Family’ — as a framework for dialogue and mutual respect.

Organizers describe the event as one of the largest and most diverse Hindu community gatherings in the United States. It is expected to attract various community leaders, including entrepreneurs, educators, and religious figures, highlighting the role of Hindu Americans in public life and civic engagement. Bhagwat’s appearance is noted as a rare public engagement within the United States.
