Moisés Solorza testifies on LeoLabs radar installation in Tierra del Fuego

Moisés Solorza, the former Secretary of Energy for Tierra del Fuego, testified before a legislative commission regarding the installation of a LeoLabs radar and ground station in Tolhuin. During his testimony, Solorza stated he had no knowledge of the requests to install the radar and could not recall the exact date or manner in which he learned of its installation. He attributed the management of energy permits and related procedures to the Provincial Energy Directorate.

However, documentation has emerged indicating that LeoLabs Inc. had already initiated administrative processes for electrical supply feasibility as early as November 2021. This request was submitted to the Provincial Energy Directorate during Solorza’s tenure as Secretary of Energy, which lasted from 2019 to April 2023. The legislative commission, led by Pablo Villegas, is investigating the administrative actions that allowed the installation to proceed to determine political and administrative responsibilities.
