Moldova adopts law for professional qualification recognition

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has adopted a new law regarding the recognition of professional qualifications. This legislation establishes clear rules for recognizing qualifications obtained within the European Union, the European Economic Area, the Swiss Confederation, and, under specific conditions, third countries.

The law aims to fully align Moldova's national regulatory framework with European standards. Once implemented, individuals with recognized qualifications will be able to practice their profession in Moldova under the same conditions as local professionals. A key feature is the introduction of an automatic recognition mechanism for specific professions that meet European legislative requirements, including doctors, dentists, veterinarians, pharmacists, architects, and various medical staff.

Recognition is not unconditional; authorities will verify that professional training and titles meet legal requirements. If significant discrepancies exist between an applicant's training and Moldovan standards, compensatory measures such as adaptation periods or aptitude tests may be required. Additionally, the law introduces the digitalization of procedures, allowing for remote applications through electronic means, and introduces the European Professional Card.
