Moldova legislative and bilateral regulatory alignment

Moldova has taken legislative and diplomatic steps to align its regulatory frameworks with international and European standards.

In August 2026, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted a law for the recognition of professional qualifications. This legislation establishes rules for recognizing qualifications from the European Union, the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation, aiming to align national frameworks with European standards. The law introduces an automatic recognition mechanism for certain professions, such as doctors and architects, and implements digitalized procedures including the European Professional Card.

By September 2026, the country expanded its bilateral legal cooperation. Moldova initiated negotiations with Albania for a social security agreement to ensure the recognition of contribution periods for pensions and disability benefits. Additionally, Moldova and Denmark signed an agreement facilitating employment access for the family members of diplomatic and consular personnel stationed in Moldova.
