Romania and Moldova see mixed fuel price changes in early July 2026

In Romania, gasoline prices on 9 July 2026 ranged from 8.62 to 8.70 lei per litre, while diesel was priced between 9.39 and 9.51 lei per litre, marking a slight increase from previous days. The cheapest gasoline was reported in Târgoviște at 8.59 lei/litre and the lowest diesel price in Lungulețu at 8.98 lei/litre. After the removal of price caps, diesel fell to 9.39 lei/litre, with station‑specific prices such as Petrom at 9.39 lei/litre and Lukoil maintaining 9.49 lei/litre. In Moldova, diesel prices were set to exceed 26 lei per litre over the weekend, rising by 26 bani, while gasoline A95 increased by 7 bani to a maximum of 28.23 lei per litre. On 10 July, diesel rose by 0.40 lei to 25.76 lei per litre and gasoline by 0.14 lei to 28.16 lei per litre, according to the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE). Both countries cited higher global oil prices, driven by the February 2026 conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran and the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz, as a key factor behind the price movements.
