Moldova and Romania invest millions of lei to modernise school facilities

In Orhei, Moldova, the Ion Luca Caragiale Theoretical High School received an investment of nearly 1.79 million lei to renovate its sanitary blocks, providing hot water and safer conditions for over 1,500 students. The project forms part of the 2025 edition of the national programme for renovating school sanitary facilities, which targets improvements for about 18,500 pupils nationwide.

In Baia Mare, Romania, the Emil Racoviță High School was fully rehabilitated with more than 38 million lei from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The refurbishment includes energy‑efficiency upgrades, photovoltaic panels, electric‑car charging stations and modernised dormitories and cafeteria, creating one of the most modern schools in Maramureș County.

Both projects illustrate how the respective governments are allocating substantial public funds to upgrade educational infrastructure and improve health‑related conditions for students.
