Moldova announces agricultural investment and soil subsidy programs
The Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has outlined significant investment initiatives for the 2026–2029 period to modernize the agro-food sector. Supported by the European Union's Growth Plan for Moldova 2025–2027, these efforts aim to improve irrigation systems and increase drought resilience.
Two major projects have been identified. The ‘Livada Moldovei II’ project, funded by a €150 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), will provide credit to micro, small, medium, and large enterprises within agricultural value chains. Approximately 90% of these funds are earmarked for private sector investments, while 10% will support public infrastructure, research, and innovation. Additionally, the ‘Sustainable Water Supply’ project, supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the EU, will focus on rehabilitating and expanding irrigation infrastructure.
Separately, the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) announced that the first round of applications for DR-06 subsidies will be open from October 28 to November 27, 2026. These subsidies are designed to provide financial support for the conservation, improvement, and enhancement of soil fertility under the Strategic Program for Agricultural Policy (PSPA).
