Moldova approves 13.5 billion lei investment for Education 2030 strategy

The Government of the Republic of Moldova has approved the “Education 2030” implementation program for 2026-2030, which involves an investment of approximately 13.5 billion lei into the national education system. The funding aims to modernize all levels of education, including nurseries, kindergartens, vocational technical schools, and universities. Key objectives include supporting teaching staff, advancing research, and increasing digitalization.

Specific targets for early childhood and general education include the creation of 5,000 new nursery places by the end of 2027 and the equipping of at least 400 schools and kindergartens. In Chișinău, over 10 million lei will be allocated to renovate nursery groups in four specific kindergartens (numbers 197, 103, 174, and 150) to help parents return to the workforce. These efforts are supported by the “Improving Education Quality” (EQIP) project, funded by the World Bank.

In the vocational and higher education sectors, the plan seeks to involve at least 300 private companies in dual education programs for 3,000 students and expand dual learning to universities for at least 1,000 students. Additionally, universities aim to attract at least 3,000 international students annually.
