Moldova to expand energy bill compensations for the 2026–2027 cold season
The Moldovan government has announced that energy bill compensations will continue throughout the 2026–2027 cold season, covering the five-month period from November to March. Registration for the “Ajutor la contor” program is scheduled to begin on November 2.
Authorities are currently analyzing various scenarios and criteria to expand the number of beneficiaries, as rising energy prices have increased the need for state support. Marcel Spatari, President of the Economy, Budget, and Finance Committee, indicated that the budget for these compensations may be higher than last year, potentially reaching 2.5 billion lei.
Individual compensation amounts are expected to range from a minimum of 500 lei to a maximum between 800 and 1,000 lei, depending on the energy source used. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru noted that the system is designed to target vulnerable households by integrating data from income sources, the National Insurance House, and banks.
