Moldova expands Romanian language education and curriculum reforms
The Ministry of Education and Research in Moldova is implementing initiatives to expand Romanian language learning opportunities in institutions that teach in minority languages. A new model classroom has been inaugurated at the Fiodor Ianioglo Theoretical High School in Cioc-Maidan, Gagauzia. This modern educational space is equipped with interactive boards, Romanian literature books, dictionaries, and new school furniture.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to provide modern and attractive learning environments. Similar model classrooms have been established in Copceac, with more planned for Gaidar and Chirsovo. The program aligns with the ‘National Program for Learning the Romanian Language for 2026-2028’.
Simultaneously, discussions are underway regarding a new curriculum for Romanian Language and Literature. Educators, writers, and ministry representatives are proposing the inclusion of more contemporary authors and increasing the time allocated for reading. Proponents suggest that a diverse curriculum, blending classics with modern works, will help students develop a better map of values and knowledge.
