Moldova government denies drone factory allegations

The Moldovan government has dismissed claims regarding the potential establishment of military-purpose factories within the country as “manipulations thrown into the public space.” This denial follows statements made by the Mayor of Chișinău, Ion Ceban, who alleged that preparations were already underway to set up equipment for a drone production plant in the capital.

Government spokesperson Dumitru Ciorici clarified that the authorities are not currently analyzing options for locating military factories in Moldova, noting that such defense investments would only be possible following changes to the existing legal framework.

Additionally, Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu addressed the topic of drone production and defense capacity. He rejected suggestions that Moldova intends to produce drones specifically for Ukraine, stating that the country requires such equipment for its own needs, including agricultural use and emergency services.
