Moldova launches film registry regulation and unified national risk‑assessment system

The National Cinematography Center of the Republic of Moldova announced that a new Regulation on the Cinematographic Registry took effect on 1 May 2026. Approved by Government Decision No 154, the rule creates a unified record of films and the individuals or companies involved in production, distribution and exhibition. Entities must submit notifications on activity intentions, film distribution, monthly projection reports, film‑nationality certificates, co‑production status and data changes, with deadlines of at least ten working days before starting an activity and five days before distribution. Forms are available online and at the Center’s office, with assistance provided via email or phone.

In a separate move, the Moldovan government approved a national integrated risk‑analysis and management framework, establishing a single system for identifying, analysing and monitoring security risks. The framework, coordinated by the National Crisis Management Center and guided by the Supreme Security Council, will produce a National Risk Register, standardised risk sheets and a periodic National Risk Assessment Report. It targets threats such as energy crises, extreme weather, cyber attacks, environmental incidents and critical‑infrastructure vulnerabilities, aiming to direct investments and protect essential services like water, energy, communications, transport and health. The initiative also supports Moldova’s EU accession efforts.
