Moldova's National Army marks 35 years of service
The National Army of the Republic of Moldova is celebrating its 35th anniversary, marking its evolution from its founding in September 1991 into a professional military force. During anniversary ceremonies, President Maia Sandu emphasized the necessity of continued defense investments, citing the direct security implications of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, including drone and missile incursions into Moldovan airspace.
Military leadership, including Brigadier General Ion Ojog and Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi, highlighted the modernization of the force. The army has integrated advanced weaponry, such as anti-tank and anti-aircraft systems, and currently participates in three international peacekeeping missions. President Sandu also presented state distinctions and honorary diplomas to military personnel to recognize their professionalism and service both domestically and abroad.
