Moldova meets 2030 electric car target but charging network lags

Moldova has reached its 2030 target of 11,000 electric cars ahead of schedule, according to State Secretary Carolina Novac. The country also records more than 81,000 hybrid and plug‑in vehicles. A feasibility study prepared by the Ministry of Energy, the National Center for Sustainable Energy and UNDP, with Danish support, notes that the existing charging‑station network is insufficient and unevenly distributed, especially on main roads.

Officials plan to accelerate the rollout of modern, accessible charging infrastructure to accommodate a projected doubling of electric vehicles by 2030 and to align with European standards.
