Johari noted that “if those costs are imposed on manufacturers, they will ultimately pass them on to consumers.” On the private sector front, Plus Malaysia Berhad aims to establish 350 EV charging points across its highway network and the East Coast Expressway 2 by 2028. In Indonesia, the government is preparing an electric motorcycle subsidy of Rp3 million per unit, expected to begin in September 2026. This program, which carries an estimated budget of Rp3 trillion, may include brands such as Alva and Gesits. Stakeholders have also expressed support for a trade-in scheme to replace conventional motorcycles with electric models.
