Moldova Ministry of Education reports 52 ethical violations in schools

The Ethics Council of the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) has examined 52 ethical violations across 40 cases within Moldovan educational institutions between 2024 and 2026. According to the council's report, the most frequent complaints involved violence and bullying (16 cases), followed by corruption and illegal money collection (14 cases), management issues and conflicts (12 cases), and four instances of misconduct by teaching staff.

Chisinau recorded the highest concentration of incidents with 15 cases, accounting for 37.5% of the total. Other reported locations include Fălești and Gagauzia, with smaller numbers of cases in Strășeni, Orhei, Drochia, Briceni, and Ungheni. The violations occurred across various levels of education, including high schools (35%), gymnasiums (32.5%), and kindergartens (25%).

Of the 40 cases, 30 have been examined, resulting in 56 specific measures or decisions. These include three decisions to withdraw managerial or teaching grades, five contract terminations or resignations, seven disciplinary sanctions, 34 warning notifications, and seven referrals to the Republican Center for Psychopedagogical Assistance for support.
