Chișinău infrastructure receives multi-billion lei government investment

The Moldovan government is implementing large-scale infrastructure and urban development projects in Chișinău. Premier Vasile Tofan has addressed long-standing delays in the construction sector, noting that real estate projects worth hundreds of millions of lei have been stalled for years due to difficulties in obtaining urban planning documentation and permits. The government aims to stimulate the sector to increase housing availability for young people and middle-income families.

In parallel, Vice Premier and Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Bolea announced that approximately 1.5 billion lei in infrastructure projects are currently underway in Chișinău. Total projects managed by his ministry amount to roughly three billion lei. These investments include the rehabilitation of residential courtyards, playgrounds, and parks, as well as the modernization of schools, hospitals, and road networks.

For 2026, the government has allocated nearly five billion lei toward Chișinău for educational institutions, road infrastructure, and suburban projects. Authorities are also looking to facilitate investor access to unutilized state lands and buildings through transparent privatization procedures.
