Moldova proposes 300,000 lei incentive for teachers in Gagauzia
The Ministry of Education and Research in Moldova has proposed a project to provide a one-time allowance of 300,000 lei to teachers who commit to teaching school subjects in the Romanian language within Gagauzia.
To qualify, educators—both novice and experienced—must hold appropriate higher education degrees and the right to practice teaching in general education. The allowance is contingent upon a minimum five-year commitment to the assigned institution. The payment would be distributed in two equal installments of 150,000 lei: the first by October 30 of the year of assignment, and the second six months later, provided the employment relationship is maintained.
If a teacher resigns voluntarily or is dismissed for personal reasons before the five-year period ends, they must repay the full amount. Exceptions to the repayment rule include medical incapacity, death, force majeure, childcare leave, or relocation approved by the Ministry.
