Moldova rejects Russian accusations at OSCE and demands troop withdrawal
At an OSCE Permanent Council meeting, Moldova rejected accusations from the Russian Federation regarding the Transnistria region. Ambassador Victoria Roșa, Moldova’s permanent representative to the OSCE, dismissed claims of an economic blockade, noting that over 77% of exports from the region are directed toward the European Union.
Roșa called for the complete and unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops, equipment, and ammunition from Moldovan territory. She reaffirmed Chișinău’s commitment to a peaceful and lasting resolution of the Transnistrian conflict while maintaining the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Ambassador also raised concerns regarding human rights in Transnistria, citing arbitrary detentions, restrictions on freedom of expression and movement, the militarization of children, and challenges faced by Romanian-language educational institutions. Additionally, she highlighted the impact of the war in Ukraine on regional security, specifically condemning repeated violations of Moldovan airspace by Russian drones.
