Moldova reports multiple cases involving protection orders

Two separate cases of violence and harassment involving protection orders have been reported in Moldova.

In one instance, a woman required four protection orders over a six-month period. The initial measures targeted her former husband, who was ordered to leave the residence and was placed under electronic monitoring. Subsequently, the woman reported physical and psychological violence against herself and her minor child by her former in-laws. A fourth protection order was issued in July to address the actions of the former in-laws.

In a separate case, Violina Șpac, the former director of ANRE, disclosed that she was a victim of persecution and threats while holding public office. She stated that the harassment, which included stalking and threats of physical retaliation from an armed individual, was intended to force her resignation. Although Șpac obtained a protection order that included electronic monitoring, the aggressor refused to wear the monitoring device and violated the order by approaching Șpac's home while the mandate was still in effect.
