Moldova sees cooler weekend after heatwave, rain expected in north and centre

The weekend of 4‑5 July brought cooler weather to the Republic of Moldova after a preceding heatwave that pushed temperatures to 33‑38 °C. The national meteorological service forecast rain and thunderstorms on Saturday across the central and southern regions, with maximum temperatures of 25‑27 °C in Chișinău, Cahul and Taraclia. Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy and dry, with highs ranging from 22 °C in the north to 25 °C in the centre and 27 °C in the south. A yellow wind warning, in effect from Friday evening to Saturday evening, warned of gusts up to 15‑20 m/s on a north‑west direction.

Earlier in the week, the service had issued yellow and orange heat alerts as night‑time temperatures stayed above 20 °C and daytime highs exceeded 35 °C. The current outlook suggests a return to more moderate conditions, though further updates may follow if weather patterns change.
