Moldova to incorporate over 1,200 recruits into National Army
The Moldovan government has approved a decision to incorporate more than 1,200 young people into the National Army between October 2026 and January 2027. Most recruits will undergo standard 12-month military service, while ten individuals are designated for a three-month reduced-term service.
The recruitment process will occur in multiple stages according to a schedule approved by the Ministry of Defense. Chișinău is set to provide the largest contingent with 167 recruits, followed by Bălți with 43, Cahul and Hâncești with 53 each, and Ungheni with 47. The Gagauzia autonomy is allocated 46 recruits. Local authorities, including mayors and district councils, will coordinate the incorporation process alongside the Ministry of Defense and military centers.
Before induction, recruits must undergo medical examinations and military-medical expertise. Local budgets will cover the costs of transporting recruits to recruitment and administrative-military bodies, while the Ministry of Defense will fund transport to military units. Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi noted that the training includes modern instruction and opportunities to learn professional skills. The Ministry of Defense has also proposed a new service option consisting of six weeks of military training.
