Moldova to increase teacher salaries by up to 14% in 2027

Teachers in the Republic of Moldova will receive salary increases of 11% to 14% starting January 1, 2027, according to Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun. The increase will be calculated based on the total current compensation package, which includes the base salary, a fixed supplement of 1,300 lei, performance bonuses, and teaching grade allowances.

In addition to the general increase, some educators may be eligible for a performance bonus of up to 15%. Funding for these bonuses will be drawn from a fund representing 4% of the total salary fund of each educational institution. The specific criteria for awarding these bonuses are currently being established in collaboration with trade unions.

As a transitional measure, educators will receive an additional net payment of 1,000 lei per month for a teaching norm starting September 1, 2026. These supplemental payments will be distributed in four installments throughout the end of 2026 before being integrated into the new salary structure in 2027.
