Moldova to invest 80 million euros in vocational education modernization
Moldova has announced an 80 million euro investment project to modernize 25 technical vocational education institutions across the country. The initiative, scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2032, aims to renovate 47 buildings, including study spaces, workshops, laboratories, and dormitories.
The project affects over 21,000 students, representing approximately 40% of the total enrollment in technical vocational education. Of the selected institutions, 11 are located in Chișinău. The funding structure includes a 33 million euro loan from the Council of Europe Development Bank, a 7 million euro grant via the Neighbourhood Investment Facility, and a 40 million euro contribution from the Republic of Moldova through the Reform and Growth Mechanism.
Specific institutions, such as Professional School no. 2 in Cahul, intend to use these funds to rehabilitate non-functional dormitories and equip training areas with modern technology to meet evolving labor market demands. Additionally, eight vocational institutions will receive 11.5 million euros specifically for energy efficiency improvements.
