Moldova to pay energy compensations starting in December

The Moldovan government has announced that the first energy compensation payments for the 2026-2027 cold season will be distributed in December. Finance Minister Victoria Belous stated that approximately 550 million lei are already allocated in the current budget to cover November compensations, with the first disbursements expected to reach eligible citizens in December.

Authorities estimate a total requirement of at least 2.5 billion lei to support between 650,000 and 670,000 vulnerable families throughout the entire cold season. Eligible households may receive up to 1,000 lei monthly to assist with costs for electricity, natural gas, or firewood, though exact amounts will be determined individually based on financial status and vulnerability levels.

To ensure continuity, the government plans to include necessary funds for the January-March 2027 period in next year's budget. If additional funding sources are not identified, officials may redistribute resources from other institutional budgets to meet these energy support commitments.
