Moldova advances EU accession with new negotiation clusters

Moldova has reached a significant milestone in its European Union accession process. The EU has officially invited Chișinău to present its negotiating positions for Cluster 2 (Internal Market) and Cluster 3 (Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth). This follows a screening process where the EU deemed Moldova sufficiently prepared to advance these specific areas.

In parallel, the European Commission has introduced new proposals for future member states. These include enhanced oversight mechanisms that could remain in effect for up to 15 years after accession. In severe cases of non-compliance with obligations, the EU could potentially suspend a member state's voting rights in the Council.

Regarding economic support, Moldova has accessed 661 million euros from the 1.9 billion euro EU Economic Growth Plan. These funds are being utilized for infrastructure, public institution modernization, and social programs, though full access to the remaining funds is contingent upon meeting a negotiated reform calendar.
