Moldova to unify fiscal and customs regimes with Transnistria by 2030

Moldovan authorities have announced a plan to gradually unify the fiscal and customs regimes for economic agents in the Transnistria region with the general system applied in the Republic of Moldova. This process aims to eliminate existing tax facilities and achieve full harmonization by January 1, 2030. The measure is intended to reduce competitive distortions, increase budget revenues, and integrate the region into the country's unified economic and customs space.

In tandem with these regulatory shifts, there is a growing trend of socio-economic integration through the labor market. Data from the State Tax Service indicates that over 23,000 residents from the Transnistria region were officially employed in companies on the right bank of the Dniester during the first half of this year, representing a 66.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

Chișinău remains the primary destination for these workers, hosting over 72% of them. Major sectors attracting regional workers include retail trade, manufacturing (such as electrical cabling and furniture), construction, and transport. Officials note that legal employment provides essential social guarantees, including legal protection and access to paid leave, while contributing to the sustainability of the national budget.
