Moldova wine exports see stable EU market share at 61%
Moldovan bottled wine exports have established a strong presence in the European Union, which accounted for 61% of these exports during the first seven months of 2026. According to Andrian Digolean, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the European market remains a strategic and stable destination for the country's viticulture sector.
Data from the National Office of Vine and Wine shows that between January and July 2026, Moldova exported 61.5 million liters of wine, valued at $116.2 million. While export volumes decreased by 16% compared to the same period in 2025, the total value of shipments fell by only 5%. This discrepancy is attributed to an 8–15% increase in average export prices for both bulk and bottled wines. Additionally, exports of brandies and distillates saw a 22% increase in value, reaching $34.7 million.
In conjunction with these economic trends, the country prepares for the 25th edition of National Wine Day. Established in 2002, the event has evolved into a major celebration of Moldova's viticultural traditions, culture, and tourism, serving as a key platform for promoting the nation's wine industry.
