Moldovan Agriculture Official Tatiana Nistorică Detained in Corruption Probe
Tatiana Nistorică, state secretary at Moldova’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, has been placed in pre‑trial detention for 30 days. Prosecutors also ordered a 20‑day detention for the chief accountant of a targeted economic agent involved in the same case.
The National Anti‑Corruption Center and the Anti‑Corruption Prosecutor’s Office allege that Nistorică received payments to influence officials at the National Agency for Food Safety so that import permits for Ukrainian animal feed could be reinstated after earlier suspensions for irregularities. Minister Ludmila Catlabuga announced that the ministry will initiate procedures to dismiss Nistorică. She is being held at Penitencierul No. 13, and her lawyers said they will contest the ruling. The investigation remains ongoing.
