Moldovan AI platform adopted by 500 firms as Romania debates AI‑generated invention ownership

A digital sales‑assistant platform developed in Chişinău is now used by more than 500 companies across Moldova, Romania, the European Union and the United States. The AI tool replies in under two seconds, supports over 30 languages and automates customer interactions. Its creator traced the technology to an algorithm for faster technical‑document review and launched the idea after a 2023 hackathon, noting the surge of interest sparked by ChatGPT.

In parallel, Romanian legal experts warn that current intellectual‑property law does not recognise AI‑generated inventions, leaving creators uncertain about ownership and tax obligations. Paul Cosmovici of Cosmovici Intellectual explained that patents must list a natural person as inventor, forcing applicants either to conceal AI involvement or risk misrepresentation. The lack of clear regulations creates ambiguity for both innovators and authorities as AI tools become more prevalent in business development.
