Moldovan and Romanian authorities fine motorcyclists, cyclists and e‑scooter users
In Moldova, over 100 motorcyclists were documented for traffic violations in two days, and 19 motorcycles were seized. Infractions included lack of protective equipment, missing or invalid licences, and riding under the influence – a 49‑year‑old rider was recorded with a blood‑alcohol level of 0.31 mg/l. Police urged riders to wear certified helmets, gloves, protective clothing and to keep their bikes in good condition.
In Timisoara, Romania, local police issued fines totalling 160,380 lei to cyclists and e‑scooter riders for 188 contraventions such as running red lights, using a phone while riding, not holding the handlebar, carrying passengers and riding on sidewalks. Authorities said checks will continue to improve road safety.
