The Director of the Moldovan Customs Service, Radu Vrabie, met with representatives of the Institute for Development and Project Expertise (IDEP Moldova) to explore cooperation that would support Moldova’s European integration and modernise its customs administration.
The dialogue focused on attracting EU funding and expertise for digitalising customs procedures, expanding electronic services, and aligning Moldova’s customs IT systems with those of the European Union. Participants also discussed improving border‑crossing infrastructure at the Moldova‑Romania frontier, reducing waiting times, and implementing the EU’s Common Transit Convention to streamline trade.
The meeting highlighted Moldova’s role in the EU’s Solidarity Corridors for Ukraine, noting measures taken to smooth commercial flows between Ukraine, Moldova and EU member states. Both parties expressed willingness to continue discussions and identify further collaborative projects for customs reform and regional development.
